GENESEO, ILL. (11/6/23) – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce that the Echelon™ 9mm pistol has won the 2023 NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for “Best New Handgun”, as selected by an independent panel of 18 judges out of a large number of submissions.

Each year, the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW™), partnering with the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), awards the top optics, accessory, ammunition and firearms manufacturers deemed to have provided outstanding value and service. These NASGW-POMA Caliber awards select the best new products in seven categories, including the 2023 Best New Handgun.

To qualify for the Caliber Awards, manufacturers must be a NASGW member in good standing and the product must have launched within the last year. Over the course of several weeks, the 18 judges analyzed the contenders and chose the Echelon 9mm as the best in its category.

The Caliber Awards are designed to offer a unique, unbiased approach to recognizing and honoring innovative new products. The voting panel is comprised of the people who buy and sell these products on a daily basis, as well as the media members who review and report on these products in the field.

“We had a record number of submissions this year,” said Kenyon Gleason, NASGW President. “It’s great to see which products, like the Echelon, rise above the others through the voting process.”

The Echelon 9mm set a new standard for modern, striker-fired duty pistols. With a host of revolutionary patent-pending features, this modular and highly adaptable handgun is engineered with superior ergonomics and built to withstand the harshest conditions.

Design elements that help set the Echelon apart include the patent-pending Central Operating Group (COG) chassis as well as the innovative Variable Interface System (VIS), which employs patent-pending self-locking pins to complete the most versatile and adaptable optics mounting system on the market.

We could not be more honored to have received this ‘Best New Handgun’ award for the Echelon pistol,” says Peggy Hickenbottom, Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Distribution & Customer Service. “To have this type of recognition for our firearm from such respected organizations as NASGW and POMA means a great deal to us.”
